“Little Joys” Christmas in July

stocking9I have had my eye on this “Little Joys’ bundle by Penny Rose Fabrics since I first caught a glimpse of it a few months back. The designer, Elea Lutz (also designer of “milk, sugar and flower”),  has once again designed an amazingly cute and very playful collection full of vintage inspired characters and Christmas goodies dancing merrily about.stocking8Growing up, my siblings and I all had homemade stockings made lovingly by my mom. Matter of fact, I don’t even recall a single store-bought stocking at any point of my childhood. Each stocking was different and seemed to match each one of us perfectly. I loved this and always figured I would do the same for my family. Unfortunately, five years of marriage and three children later, I still had not (until now) made a single one of our stockings. Last Christmas I promised myself I would at least begin to start switching out our stockings with homemade ones, and I’m proud to say “Little Joys” came out just in time to keep my promise.Stocking6I used a free stocking pattern you can find here. The tree is a little different than I had originally planned. (Sometimes certain things do not come out the way they look in your head!) Luckily, tree number 2 was much more pleasing to the eyes. I added a toe and heel patch and a few hand stitches  (because everything looks better with a little hand-stitching).  DSC_3495Stocking4Stockings stocking5I really am excited to have started a homemade stocking collection of our own. One stocking down, four more to go! I think I’ll do my hubby’s next. He has the saddest of all of our stockings. Stocking
